FOUR SEASONS GRESHAM PALACE
Photographer: Verena Dohmen
Location: Budapest, Hungary
Commissioned by Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts
Set within one of Budapest's most captivating buildings, directly overlooking the Chain Bridge with uninterrupted views of Buda Castle and the Danube, Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace embodies timeless Art Nouveau elegance paired with modern luxury hospitality. Originally built in 1906 as the headquarters of the Gresham Life Assurance Company and magnificently restored to its original splendor for its 2004 opening, I was commissioned to capture the atmosphere of this landmark alongside its culinary identity — from the sophisticated French brasserie KOLLÁZS overlooking the Danube and Chain Bridge, to the cocktail bar MÚZSA with its nod to Budapest's Golden Age, to the top-floor spa with its infinity pool and treatments by Hungarian luxury brand Omorovicza.
Through my lens, I focused on the interplay of historic architecture, warm natural light, and rich materials — ornate plasterwork, marble, hand-painted Herend porcelain — that make this hotel so distinctive. The goal was to authentically convey the property's sense of place and elevated guest experience, ideal for social media, marketing, and storytelling for one of Europe's most iconic luxury hotels.
